Leadership Masterclass 1 - "Leadership: White Elephant or Wheelwright?" Professor Keith Grint
Professor Grint's masterclass examines what we mean by 'leadership' and explores the myths surrounding how we have come to regard the role of a leader as a heroically gifted individual. By looking a little deeper he unpicks our definitions and understanding of leadership and proposes an alternative view that places a greater emphasis on pragmatic and everyday problem solving abilities - the 'wheelwright'.
Steering a steady course through the difficult waters of leadership

Keith Grint spent 10 years in industry before switching to an academic career and has been variously employed as an agricultural labourer, a factory worker, an industrial cleaner, a removals worker, a freezer operative, a swimming pool attendant, a postman, a clerical worker, and a part-time karate teacher.
Keith is now Professor of Public Leadership & Management at Warwick University. Prior to taking this post he held senior positions at numerous top institutions including Oxford University, Lancaster University, and Cranfield University. He is an expert in organisational behaviour, leadership and management. Most importantly, he knows what makes leaders tick and how different styles of leadership work in different situations.
