Business Growth Masterclass 3 - "Maximising Profitability" Dr John Mackness
John's masterclass focuses on maximising the profitability of a business. The operations of every business are subject to factors which reduce their efficiency and therefore their profitability. Using a model called the theory of constraints John guides delegates through a process of looking for where there are bottlenecks in their business - these might be processes, people or machinery - and working to exploit these bottlenecks to improve efficiency. This session gives delegates a proven tailored and practical method of improving profitability in their company operations.
All businesses have the same fundamental operational systems and challenges. The theory of constraints is regularly, and successfully, applied to businesses from all sectors.

John's career started as an Operations Research Scientist with British Steel after studying Mining with Metallurgy at Nottingham University. In 1971 he went to Lancaster University to do a Masters degree in Systems Engineering and stayed on to continue his research into the application of systems principles in small firms. He has worked as an academic in Santa Catarina in Brazil, and a consultant in the North West of England. In 1984 he rejoined Lancaster University as a Lecturer in Operations Management and since then has worked mainly within the Management Development division designing and running courses for client organisations.
